Q & A

Q1. How can I earn more display credit?

To get more banner display credit for your site, you can add the assigned LinkAustralia HTML code onto multiple pages. In the HTML code we gave to you, please change two occurrence of :000 to different numbers (but the pair have to be the same for one particular page!) for different pages. By doing so, each page will display different banner and you will get more credit consequently. If you don't change it, the visitor's browser may cache the picture, and all the pages will display the same banner.

Q2. What are the requirements for my banner?

Your banner must be a GIF file, the banner size should be 400x40 pixels. The file size should be less than 7k. Animated banner is permitted.

Q3. Where does LinkAustralia display my banner?

There is no point of displaying your banner on your own site. Your banner is displayed on LinkAustralia and/or other members' sites in a rotated fashion, so you can get more visitors. LinkAustralia Member Service provides detailed statistics on the performance of your banner.

Q4. What are LinkAustralia Zones?

We classify LinkAustralia membership into three zones according to the nature of the participating websites.
  1. Government/Non-profit Organization Website: Government departments/agencies/imformation service, Church groups, etc;
  2. Commercial Company Website: Companies which utilise the Internet to engage in Sales/Marketing/Services activities;
  3. Personal Page: General internet homepages, this is the largest zone!

The reason for setting up the zone structure is to eliminate possible inappropriate banner display of general personal homepages on some official and/or formal company websites.

Q5. How can I make animated banner?

A program called GIF Construction Set for Windows (GIFCON32.exe/zip) is available from Mindworkshop. This program can put two or more normal GIF files together to form an animated GIF. You can use the animation wizard under File menu to create a sequence of animation, then use the Super Compress (under File menu) to reduce the file size.

Q6. What is a click-through?

Banner advertising on the Internet has a very powerful attribute over the conventional advertising campaign -- namely, its its ability to interact directly with readers! A reader can not only see your banner but also is able to click on it to get further information -- by going through to your webpage. When a banner advertisement is clicked on and the user is taken through to further information this is termed a `click through.'

Q7. What kind of banners are most effective?

The most effective banners are those with higher click-through ratio. i.e. banners that visitor most likely to click. Average click through ratio is above 50:1. Therefore, a banner with 10:1 click through ratio must be a very effective one.

Here are the top 10 banners found on LinkAustralia Advertising Network.

Q8. I found a LinkAustralia member's site offensive, can anything be done about that?

Yes, just send a message to let us know. And we will make sure that the site is removed from the membership. According to the LinkAustralia membership rules, websites which have violent, offensive, nudity, and illegal materials are not allowed to join.
